He said there are other hurdles of workmanship and material related to tented camps which are confined to some very limited places. Expert tent installers are difficult to get standards for construction. According to him tented accommodations do have a high operational cost owning to the need of installation, de-installation and proper storage in each season. That requires mobilizing of personal and specializing in these activities. Additionally, he adds, to give the feel of nature in such accommodation to tourists, the ‘pucca’ construction has to be maintained at the bare minimum – which makes storage in off season more expansive.
The tents also face an issue of climate condition, which of paramount importance. Abbas A Zaidi says, we are open in the cooler period – October till April – which more or less coincidences with the peak season in Ranthambore. There are a growing number of green tourist including nature photographers who prefer to stay in tents. Foreign tourist actually look forward to staying in tented accommodation as they feel closer to nature than a brick construction. On the environment front, tents can withstand moderate dust and rainfall.
